Images from video games, photos made with popular messaging applications or simply snapshots made in the “here and now” with phone cameras are transformed into cross-stitches thanks to their pixelated structure. This artisanal technique, which employs simple patterns consisting of small squares, accurately represents the construction of images displayed on device screens. These virtual, „briefly relevant” pictures become trapped in the hyperslow process of embroidery, which cannot be accelerated. During hours of work, simple pixels gain the corporeality of two intersecting threads, and their spot-like quality is replaced with the linearity of a thread. The space-time becomes curved. Time expands, while space becomes matter, preserving the image forever.
